Apparently. It appeared when they played a cassette and then disappeared when they finished the puzzles, which is why they thought they might've affected it but weren't sure.
I'll be confirming this with another, but that's what I've gathered so far.
It didn't speak, or do anything else? It just tried to hold them back?
[ this isn't really giving them much more to go off of, if that's the case. though it's... interesting that it didn't appear until they played something. ]
No, they still seemed confused by the entire thing. I suspect that the way it manifested was related more to this specific world—the one through the gate—than the darkness overall.
Why would Lune tell me to ask them if they can't tell us anything new?
[ kara shakes his head, dismayed. in that case... ]
He must be saying to find the ones with those... other abilities.
[ whatever those are. but even the partnering ability has done more to fight the darkness than most of them, from where ookurikara is standing - there's just no way of knowing who has it now, unless they step forward. ]
Inquire after their well-being, especially if misfortune just befell them. Make it clear that you hear what others are saying. What keeps people from confiding in others is the fear that their thoughts will be disrespected or that the info they have will be misused.
I don't think anyone is expecting you to be nice. People know you're driven, and that is your strength. However, they may also worry that you're impulsive, or that you'll do as you will with whatever they tell you, with no regard for their opinion on the matter.

Isn't cooking enough?
[ so many people have claimed he's a good person for that alone? does he really have to do more? ]

It helps. But you've also made it clear that you don't particularly care about people otherwise, which might scare them off.

I don't have to, in order to be a good ally.
[ it's easier not to care. that way, if something happens, if he can keep moving. ]
...How am I supposed to talk to them, then?
[ he's awkward even with the people he likes, after all. ]
