It is likely, then, that he is not standoffish, so much as he is trying to mitigate his involvement with others to hide his intentions. However, his interest in the shrine's cleaning last week indicated a genuine interest in... doing right, by someone. Perhaps he believes he is conducting a cleansing of his own design.

Hisoka seems to have been, at the very least, passively involved in all of these situations. I truly wonder what he encountered last night that led to his passing? I suppose we will know soon enough.
